We have the opportunity to have easily access to the university with public transports.

Some students put 1 hour to come at the university but altogether we put less than one hour with transport. Some decide to come by car.
Globally, the university has a good localization and is easily accessible.

Saint-Denis is a big city; we have a lot of places to eat as bakeries, restaurants or fast food.

There is a shopping mall with several stores as Perfume shops, clothes or shoes. 


There are many things to do but, the city of Saint-Denis is considered for be dirty and dangerous. We have to pay thus always attention on cars and on people.

In the IUT, There are many buildings (A, B, C, D, E). Building is separated in department: Marketin, management, health, mechanics, physics, industrial engineering, science.

Our rooms are situated in the building E on the 4th floor; it is horrible to rise quite in daytime. We have a library, a restaurant and a cafetaria in the outside of the U.I.T

Our study room is not very good, it is damaged but the computer room is good. We are Internet connection, the web cam, the microphone, a lot of software which Microsoft Office.

Even if the UNIVERSITY INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY of Saint-Denis is not perfect, we are happy about the teaching.

Before this year, I had never met this situation (skype). Usually, English courses always take place in the same way and I have the sensation to learn nothing.

Even if I didn’t speak directly during the Skype sessions, I keep a good memory about this exchange: I learnt on the American student’s life, their visions of things, and their life. We are happy to have exchanged with them.

I didn’t participate a lot  during the class but I learnt on me, whom I can’t understand but I have to learn again a lot to trust and dare to speak with others.

I liked a lot this year and the methods of work of Madam Ramdani: listen videos, exercises, direction (fabrication). It would be necessary to use this method more often to learn better. I am certain to retain my lessons of this year.

I hope my next years of studies will be also enriching.

During the first session, all of us we were shy because of our level in English. Personally, I have two little cousins who are Australian and French so they speak English and even with them I scared to do mistakes, so with strangers? Oh my god! But after time I try to speak and I managed.
Now, I know I can speak with English people and I can make myself understood.

What I liked during this sessions, it’s we could speak about everything with the American. They were really friendly and they didn’t joke about our accent and it’s very cool.

But after a time, conversations were more interesting, we spoke about actually and many other things like student’s life… and then it’s make me want to talk with the American students. I was curious and happy to exchange with them. I really appreciate this way of learning English. It’s more efficient than the other English’s courses I have ever had.

Talking with the other have force us to speak and to progress in English. It is more interactive, we make effort, and the goal is that at the end we can start up a conversation, make a conversation easily.

Everyone have make the effort, we have understood each other, it was very funny and rewarding, thanks for that!

To conclude I liked this experience, I have learn many things, American students were very nice, friendly, they adapted to us.

We live in Paris with our parents because life is expensive (with economic crisis) and we don’t have money to pay for a rent. Moreover the University is located in Saint-Denis, near Paris. The journey is fast with bus and subway.

Students have choice to live with their parents or alone (residence hall, flat-sharing).In our class, there are students who live in residence hall (thinks to scolarship) because they are foreign students and they don’t have family in France. They have to work 20 hours a mounth in Mac Donald’s for instance, to support themselves. So, they are more independant and brave, that is to say they have many experiences.

We have a scolarship and that’s why we don’t need to work after school. We are lucky because we have free time to do homework and to do sports.

Each week-end, we can go out with friends but we have obliged to come back at home early. We depend on parents and we are not free. We have to respect established rules.

Unlike the other students who live alone, they don’t have confines. They are free.

In conclusion, there are advantages and drawbacks to live with parents but we are convinced that to put up with family is better because we are in safety and we don’t have problems of money.

Generally I understood the ideas that want to transmit the American students and despite my shyness I also thinks of putting made understand for little of time when I intervened.
With hindsight, I shall have liked putting a lot more by participating more because today the English language is very important for our future within the professional world.

To finish, communicate is an essential tool to exceed its limits and forge ahead.
Skype is built on the fact that people can maintain remote relations.

In conclusion, I spent a pleasant moment with you and thank you so much to my teacher for all this year crossed with you, you learn me many things, maybe more than you think.

It is true that I was not very present during skype sessions because i’m shy, but it has not stop me to appreciate.

I think that it was a beautiful opportunity which was offered to us to progress and be more at ease with the English language.

It had been a long moment that I hadn’t spoken English and consequently that I didn’t trust me, but thanks to your teaching methods and your motivation to make us progress, speaking English became a real pleasure and easier for me and I think for my classmates too.

Contrary to what I could think during skypes sessions the American students understood us easily and it was the same thing for us. The conversations were simple, the subjects interesting, there was a good atmosphere and it was pleasant to work in such conditions.

So i’m so happy, ans satisfied to have had you as professor because with you I learnt a lot and I still want to learn and why not to discuss with English people on the internet like we have done during skype sessions in order to improve my english.

So Mrs Ramdani thank you so much for everything .

Have opportunity of to speak, to laugh, to discuss, with american students was à astounding experience.

Our students lives are very differentes because We haven’t the same school system, our universities aren’t also big but during interviews I saw that we make the same things outside the class.

Thanks to our various exchanges, to speak in English seems to me not so hideous. Our comrades took the time to adapt to us and we have made efforts to use all our vocabulary  for to communicate with all our knowledge.

Usually, I speak to order, to reserve a bedroom  or for my orales examination but this years I saw that I say much more.

I happy, to have spend quality time with our camrades.

Moreover, I learned a lot with very little time and I am surprised by my level in English.
Now, I am not ashamed to speak in English. I have self-confident and it is a pleasure to me.

We all have laptop computers. Two of us have Dells (PC) and Lindsay has a Mac. We have been using the computer so long we can not really even remember. We know we used it while we were in elementary school. It was always a part of school and children learn to use computers at a really young age; sometimes even at four years old. In schools, we had computer labs that we could use learning games. In about 6^th grade, we had classes where we had cardboard over our hands so we could memorize the keyboard without looking.

Do you have a cell phone/smart phone? What do you use it for? How much does your plan cost? Is it bundled with anything else?

We all have iPhones that we all would say that we are very attached to them. We use it for social media, texting, calendars, GPS from Google maps, email, and general internet browsing. We use our phones a lot for looking information up during conversations. If someone uses a new slang word we don’t know or saw a funny video, we use our phones to look it up. Alana has a plan with her family of $230 for 5 phones, all unlimited. For the most part, our family plan makes our rates cheaper and our parents still pay it.

Do you use your computer for class assignments? Explain.

It is essential to use our computers for class assignments. We have many research papers and projects that makes it essential for internet access to do at home on our own. All of our assignments are required to be typed in 12 point, Times New Roman font and printed. We are not allowed to hand in handwritten assignments for our classes. Some classes, we are able to have our laptops over for notes but people usually use it to do other things during class. It is usually allowed so people can take notes easier instead of writing their notes on paper.

Are you on Facebook? If yes, how long have you been on Facebook? How often do you go on the site?

We are all on Facebook but we don’t use it as much as we used to. We check it a million times a day to look at updates from people, but we rarely post any statuses. We generally use it to keep in contact with people because we live far away from them now. Lindsay and Alana said they use Instagram now. It is kind of a “life updater”. Any big event that happens in someones life, like marriage, engagement, a baby, graduation, or a vacation you can see on Facebook to see what people have been up to.

What is your favorite search engine? Why?

Google is the search engine we use the most for general information to look up. We use Google because it is easier when the browser is Google Chrome. Alana says other search engines looks like it has a lot of spam, and is unreliable. Google is simple and easy. We have a lot of online databases to look up scholarly sources for our class assignments and papers like EBSCO.

What do you read online?

We read a lot of blogs and news articles, on pop culture, and world. We read off of websites like Christian Science Monitor, Huffington Post, Reddit, Vice Magazine or alternative newspapers and magazines to sift through news that may be unreliable. Lindsay likes to read the Onion for entertainment.

Do you use Wikipedia, and what do you look up on that site?

We use Wikipedia as a starting point for a topic that we don’t understand. We will look at the sources at the bottom to look more in depth on the topic, but we do not use it for homework as a source. We use Wikipedia to look up people’s general information like celebrities, or band members, or political figures. Sometimes during class, if we don’t understand something, to look it up quickly we can read a short description about it to catch up.
